Copywriting

When I was an early adolescent, I remember my father telling me, “you’re a really good writer.” My father’s words resonated deep within my memory. A couple decades later, and I can still remember the boosted confidence I felt that emerged from those emboldening words.

Speaking of words, that’s why we’re here. . . copywriting is all about the words that bond together to create a written masterpiece. There is a fundamental component that rests below the makeup of writing as an art.

From a foundational standpoint, I love to read. I’ve always loved to read. I have always strongly believed that good writing comes from reading good writing. I am a firm believer that my syntactical instinct, use of diction and grammar competency can be highly attributed to spending countless hours curled up with a good book. To be fair, though, my writing skills and interest in the written word expands beyond reading. I graduated from college with a BA and studied English as my major and Secondary Education as my minor. In recent years, I’ve taught a variety of high school English classes. Although I left the classroom, I continue to be proud of the Creative Writing course I developed. The formative progression that advanced my copywriting abilities provided me with the brains to know writing rules, but knowledge is only part of my copywriting strategy.

Aside from the development behind my writing and editing skills, when it comes to the written word, I am, quite simply, profoundly connected to it. Writing has been a constant in my life from keeping diaries through my childhood to blogging in my adult years. Writing for myself and others brings me joy. The emotional connection I experience with writing is the heart behind my craft. The emotional connection I incur while writing enables me to vary my tone, voice and create content with an empathetic lens that speaks to the pathos intertwined with copywriting strategy.

To wrap this up, I have success with copywriting not only because I love to write, but also because I know how to write. I use a thesaurus almost everyday (it’s fun to vary diction, even in a text!) and have previously declared myself a “Grammar Goddess.” I can write content to support different text types and industries and for varied audiences.
